There are many different types of dogs and wolves in this world, from a familiar domestic dogs in the streets of Zurich and London to other wild kinds walking across untamed skies in the ends of this world. Many wolves species around the world are threatened by habitat loss, climate change, fisheries by catch, the illegal wildlife trade and a host of other threats.
1. Grey Wolves Jewelry
Gray wolves in USA are left vulnerable after the Trump administration removed their protections. The species has been listed as endangered for over 45 years; this listing has been instrumental in protecting the animals from hunting and helping to recover dwindling population numbers. But last year, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service proposed to have the gray wolf removed from the Endangered Species Act. Following that proposal, the government took action in delisting the gray wolf as an endangered species last week.
2. Red Wolf Jewerly
Red wolves was first listed as “threatened with extinction” under the Endangered Species Preservation Act of 1966 in 1967. Currently listed as an endangered species under the Endangered Species Act of 1973. Today, only about 20 red wolves roam their native habitats in eastern North Carolina as a nonessential experimental population (NEP), and approximately 245 red wolves are maintained in 43 captive breeding facilities throughout the United States. Studies are currently underway to identify the possibility of red wolf ancestry still remaining in the wild in southwestern Louisiana and southeastern Texas.
3. Black Wolf Jewelry
Despite their name, gray wolves (Canis lupus) are not always just gray. These canids can also have black or white coats—the ones with black coats are referred to, logically enough, as black wolves. Of all the color variations in Canis lupus, the black individuals are the most intriguing. Black wolves are so colored because of a genetic mutation in their K locus gene. This mutation causes a condition known as melanism, an increased presence of dark pigmentation which causes an individual to be colored black (or nearly black). Black wolves are also intriguing because of their distribution. There are significantly more black wolves in North America than there are in Europe.
4. White Wolf Jewelry
A white wolf or Arctic wolf is a mammal of the Canidae family and a subspecies of the gray wolf. This is a subspecies of grey wolf native to Canada's Queen Elizabeth Islands, from Melville Island to Ellesmere Island. It is a medium-sized subspecies, distinguished from the northwestern wolf by its smaller size, its whiter colouration, its narrower braincase, and larger carnassials. Since 1930, there has been a progressive reduction in size in Arctic wolf skulls, which is likely the result of wolf-dog hybridization.
5. Dogs Jewelry
Why is it that millions of dogs are being killed in shelters that are expected to provide these animals with a second chance at life? Shelters are the last line for millions of innocent dogs. Most people have no idea of the magnitude of this national tragedy. The sad reality is that millions of dogs are killed each year in shelters. For far too long we have been told that there is no other way.
6. African Wild Dog Jewelry
The wild dog is one of the world’s most endangered mammals. The largest populations remain in southern Africa and the southern part of East Africa (especially Tanzania and northern Mozambique). Wild dogs are social and gather in packs of around ten individuals, but some packs number more than 40. They are opportunistic predators that hunt medium-sized ruminants, such as gazelles. In a sprint, African wild dogs can reach speeds of more than 44 miles per hour.
Although the wolf remains an endangered — and therefore protected — species, wolves nevertheless face the same risks as any other animal species. Outside parks and reservations, humans continue to be the greatest threat to the wolf; ranchers may kill wolves that attack their livestock, and hunters shoot them for sport. Despite their protected status, many people in the surrounding communities continue to harbor animosity toward the animals and view them as nothing more than a nuisance. Donations to the WWF foundation contributes to dog and wolves projects in over 100 offices around the world, working to address the many issues that threaten wolves species.
There are some projects that focus on dogs and wolves conservation:
WWF southern Tanzania and northern Mozambique conservation
Wolf Conservation Center (USA)
Wolf Haven (USA)
